Eagle eye shooting range3/31/2024 ![]() The minimum age for shooters is 12 years old.Excessively open-neck tops are not permitted on the firing line (including singlets).Closed-toe shoes must be worn on the firing line.High visibility vests must be worn when placing targets beyond 100m on main ranges one and two.Eye protection is mandatory for all juniors (under 18) and recommended for all persons using a firearm.Ear protection is mandatory on all SSAA Victorian ranges.Range rulesīefore heading down to the range, please familiarise yourself with the below range rules: To view upcoming sub-club events and bookings, click here. Sundays – 10am to 4pm – Licensed shooters only.Saturdays – 10am to 4pm – Non-licensed and licensed shooters.Joining SSAA at the range will give you free range entry for that day. Clays can be purchased in batches of 25 for $10. Members can use the thrower during normal business hours. Shotgun shooting is also available on the main public range, with a clay target thrower set up at the end of the firing line. With 100 benches along its covered and concreted firing line, there is room for everyone at Eagle Park. ![]() The main public range is certified for all calibre rifles, including 50 BMG, to a distance of 500m. The main rifle range is open to members and the general public from 9am to 5pm Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. “There are so many things to think about and control its just a really good feeling when you get a good shot in and you got everything under control and how you want it.The Eagle Park Range in Little River caters to all disciplines, including pistol, shotgun and large-calibre rifles. “It’s just a lot of fun, there are so many things to just focus on,” Austin said. The one thing is the target and hitting it as close to the middle as possible. Shooting competitively is a way to use all your senses and focus on one thing. “I’ve always enjoyed doing and it’s a good experience on taking it to another level competitively shoot for accuracy it’s just also a lot of fun whether you’re doing good or not.” “There are a lot of places in the East Texas area to compete and practice,” Austin said. There are opportunities in Terrell and Dallas for people looking to join. We went out there a few times and then we got a little more immersed into it and started to enjoy the competitive aspect of it.”Īnyone can join 4-H if they are interested. “We have some friends who were a part of the organization who are really good friends with our family,” Elizabeth said. They both learned about 4-H from family and friends. Kenny and the Stones have been shooting competitively for a year now. “You’re trying to get the best score you can possibly can by hitting the middle of the target as close as you can.” “It’s just a fun thing to do,” Austin Stone said. There are different kinds of guns and different distances. “ he knows that I can knock out all the other guys so that is something that stuck with me for a while.”Ĭompetitive shooting is a sport where that involves shooting for accuracy. “I found shooting really fun at a young age, and one thing my father has told me is that girls can typically be better shooters,” Elizabeth Stone said. They compete throughout the year and apply the skills that they learn from 4H in their competitive shooting. Juniors Jaycob Kenny and Elizabeth Stone, and freshman Austin Stone are involved in a shooting club run by 4H, a youth development organization located in areas such as Dallas and Terrell. She hit a bullseye winning the shooting competition. ![]() Instead, there is a black hole in the middle of the target. One last exhale and she squeezes the trigger and time stops. She takes a deep breath and lifts the scope to her eye. Her palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy. The East Texas wind blows against her face.
